Garry's Mod: install DarkRP or change the gamemode

To run a gamemode such as DarkRP:

Add DarkRP (and its dependencies ULX/ULib) through your Workshop collection, or upload it to /garrysmod/gamemodes/darkrp/.
On the Startup page set the gamemode (e.g. +gamemode darkrp) and a matching map (e.g. +map rp_downtown_v4c_v2).
Restart. Configure jobs, shipments and money in /garrysmod/gamemodes/darkrp/gamemode/config/.

CPU single-core speed is the limit for busy GMod servers, so trim unused addons if you see lag.
