# Garry's Mod: install DarkRP or change the gamemode

To run a gamemode such as **DarkRP**:

1. Add DarkRP (and its dependencies *ULX*/*ULib*) through your Workshop collection, or upload it to `/garrysmod/gamemodes/darkrp/`.
2. On the **Startup** page set the gamemode (e.g. `+gamemode darkrp`) and a matching map (e.g. `+map rp_downtown_v4c_v2`).
3. **Restart**. Configure jobs, shipments and money in `/garrysmod/gamemodes/darkrp/gamemode/config/`.

CPU single-core speed is the limit for busy GMod servers, so trim unused addons if you see lag.
