# Minecraft: switch to Paper and add plugins

**Paper** is a high-performance Minecraft server that supports Bukkit/Spigot plugins.

1. On the **Startup** page, set the server type/jar to **Paper** and pick your Minecraft version, then **Restart** (the correct jar downloads automatically).
2. Upload plugin `.jar` files into the `/plugins/` folder.
3. **Restart** so the plugins load; each creates a config under `/plugins/<PluginName>/`.

Only use plugins built for your Minecraft version, and add them one at a time to catch any that cause errors on boot.
