# FiveM: install ESX or QBCore

ESX and QBCore are the two most popular roleplay frameworks. Both need the MySQL database on your plan (see the database guide first).

1. Download the framework — **es_extended** (ESX) or **qb-core** (QBCore) — plus its dependencies (oxmysql and the listed required resources).
2. Upload the resource folders into `/resources/` (grouping them, e.g. `/resources/[core]/`, is tidy).
3. Import the framework’s `.sql` files into your database.
4. In `server.cfg`, start them in order, e.g. `ensure oxmysql` then `ensure es_extended` (or `ensure qb-core`), followed by your other resources.
5. **Restart** and watch the console for load errors.

Add resources a few at a time so you can spot any that fail to start. Heavy RP builds need more RAM — upgrade your plan if the console warns about memory.
