# Editing your server config

Game settings live in text config files you can edit from the panel.

1. Open **Files** and find the config (for example `server.cfg`, `server.properties`, or a game-specific settings file).
2. Edit it in the browser, or download, change and re-upload it.
3. **Restart** the server for changes to take effect.

Make a quick backup before big changes so you can roll back if a setting breaks the server.
